Frequently Asked Questions

Life at Chesterton Academy

+ Is Chesterton Academy a Catholic School?

We announce with great joy and thanksgiving that Archbishop Listecki has granted our petition and recognized Chesterton Academy of Milwaukee as a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as of June 20, 2019. We are most humbled and grateful for this recognition.

Chesterton Academy now becomes a part of the greater community of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese while maintaining our unique, classical identity, curriculum, and pedagogy. Recognized by our Archbishop, we can strengthen our connection to Catholic grade schools, high schools, parishes, priests, religious, and all the faithful as we pursue our mission to educate young people in the Catholic, classical, liberal arts tradition. We seek to conform students’ intellect and will to Jesus Christ. Chesterton Academy’s mission will be an important addition to the work of the other Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese.

Placement Exam

All incoming freshmen and sophomores are required to take a placement exam, Classic Learning Test (CLT8), as part of the application and enrollment process. Students in upper grades will be notified if testing is needed. The placement exam is one of the tools we use to ensure students are placed in the appropriate section of math, and to help identify areas of academic strengths and opportunities for growth. Students must complete an admissions application prior to the placement exam, typically held the second Saturday of November.

The same placement test used throughout the Chesterton Academy Network. Our students take a grade appropriate level of the CLT each year of high school. The CLT10 has scholarship opportunities and the CLT is an official college entrance test. Test information may be found at www.cltexam.com. Enrolled juniors at Chesterton Academy also take the PSAT in fall and the ACT in spring.

For questions, or if you miss the fall exam, call the admissions office at (262) 788-8400.
